Donate books

Donating your books is easy!

Friends of the Olympia Library gratefully accepts all donations of books and certain media (CDs, DVDs, records, video games) in good condition. We do not accept magazines, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, and outdated encyclopedias or textbooks. If you think you have a valuable item that is on the “no thanks” list, please email the Olympia Friends to inquire.

Please leave donations at the Olympia Library Returns counter. All donations should be in bags or boxes which can be left at the library. Donations of more than 10 boxes/bags can be accepted by appointment only so that staff or volunteers can be available to assist in the unloading process. Your donations are tax-deductible and library staff will provide you with a receipt – just ask.

If you have a lot of books and can’t bring them downtown, please e-mail and we will work with you to arrange transport.

Did you know? Between 1,500 and 2,000 of your book donations per year go directly into the Library’s inventory and onto the Library shelves!
