Cheryl
Heywood, New US Citizen
Twelve years
after coming to the US from Canada, lots of patience and expense, and cramming
for their oral test, Cheryl Heywood and her family took their oaths as US

A
Stove for the Library
Our beloved Library
Manager, Cheryl Heywood, had a dream. She wanted the aroma of pies and cookies
wafting through the Library on special occasions.
Friends of the Library
Ross Lasater and Larry Bauman decided to make it happen.
They donated the money
to make Cheryl's dream come true.
Their
generosity toward the Library is not limited to financial donations, however.
Larry and Ross sort and organize donated books every Thursday morning to
prepare for the quarterly Book Sales and are indispensible in making the
sales successful year after year.
We thank
these two special Friends for their hard work, dedication to the Library
and the wonderful new stove.

Joan
and Tod, Our Fabulous Friends
Joan
and Tod Heilenday have been maintaining the Friends Book Shelf (located
next to the check out desk at the Library) for more than12 years. They sort
through all the new book sale donations and pull out the books they think
you will want to buy before the next Big Book Sale.
The
Friends Book Shelf makes about $500.00 for the Library each month. Remember
to take a look at The Shelf next time you visit the Library.
In her life before Olympia , Joan worked at Omaha Community Place constructing
sets and sewing costumes for their theatrical performances. Tod graduated
from MIT, spent his professional life in the
Air Defense industry and is honored in Who’s Who of American Men and Women
of Science.
Joan
and Tod have known each other since she was 16 and they’ve been married
more than 40 years. The couple has much in common, in addition to being
bookworms. Their favorite book is Wind in the Willows so it’s no surprise
that their current home is called Toad Hall.
Joan
and Tod also share a passion for carousel horses. One day while Tod was
driving home he got stuck in slow moving traffic. He was glancing into the
windows of the antique stores as he drove slowly by and saw the most decrepit
carousel horse. He knew instantly he had to take it home to Joan where they
restored Proud Patrick to his former magnificence.
Thank you Joan and Tod. |
