This weekend’s Olympia Comics Festival will include a book signing by Derek Kirk Kim and Gene Luen Yang, creators of the graphic novel “The Eternal Smile.” Come to the library Friday, 5:30 – 7 p.m. to meet the author/artists, talk about their work, or have your copy signed.
Library staff will also be at the expo on Saturday (noon – 5 p.m. at the Vault)…come say hi to Kelsey if you’re there! All events are free. The Friday night event and the library’s booth on Saturday are sponsored in part by the Friends of the Olympia Library.

The Friends are sponsoring (in part) the upcoming Living Library afternoon on Saturday, May 30, 12:30 – 4:30 pm. Borrow a real life experience. Explore the lives of others at the Thurston County Living Library. Check out a human ‘book’ and engage in a 30 minute conversation with a person from your community that you might not otherwise meet. Come join us at this fascinating new event.

The Timberland Regional Library Board of Trustees will be meeting at the Lacey Timberland Library tonight, April 22, at 7pm. Attend to hear about upcoming budget issues, and to have your say.

Saturday, MAY 16: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday, MAY 17: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.; clearance sale on Sunday is $3/bag of books.
Special Reminder: Friends can purchase books from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16 – two hours before the Sale opens to the public!
The Friends largest fund-raisers are the Giant Book Sales – February, May and October.
You, and your friends and family, can help by:
- REDUCING, from your own library, the books you don’t plan to read again,
- RECYCLING by donating to the Book Sale – just drop books off before May 13 whenever the Library is open, and
- REUSING the treasures donated by others by purchasing your own new treasures at the May Book Sale.
