Proceeds from the sale go directly to programs and equipment for the Olympia Library.

Saturday, June 12
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
(Friends members can shop as early as 8 a.m., and you can sign up on the spot!)

Sunday, June 13
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The book sale is our biggest fundraiser for our contributions to the library. Each year, we donate thousands of dollars directly to library programs, so take a trip downtown on this glorious weekend and buy some books for the library!

More information will be coming your way about the exact times of the sale.

In the last few months the Friends have received fewer books than we usually do. Actually, we’re running at about 20 percent of what we usually collect of this time period.

The book sale is our biggest fundraiser for our contributions to the library. Each year, we donate thousands of dollars directly to library programs, so if you’re hanging on to any books you don’t need, please consider donating.

We’ll still have plenty of books for the book sale because we’ve had such a surplus over the past few sales.

Donating your books is very easy:

  • You can simply drop your books off at the circulation desk of the downtown Olympia library. The staff will take care of the rest.
  • If you have a lot of books and can’t bring them downton, please email our book sale coordinator Irene at irene.bookworm (at ) gmail (dot) com or leave us a comment here.
  • Its even tax deductible! The library will provide you with a receipt for your tax purposes.

This is a great opportunity to support the operation of your local library. All of the proceeds from the books sale go to local programming at the Olympia Library and support the health of the library.

A Friends members’ pre-sale will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Anyone can renew or purchase a membership at that time.

Special Reminder: Friends can purchase books from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16 – two hours before the Sale opens to the public!

The Friends largest fund-raisers are the Giant Book Sales – February, May and October.

You, and your friends and family, can help by:

  • REDUCING, from your own library, the books you don’t plan to read again,
  • RECYCLING by donating to the Book Sale – just drop books off before May 13 whenever the Library is open, and
  • REUSING the treasures donated by others by purchasing your own new treasures at the May Book Sale.
